Met Police Seek Extension to Tory MP Andrew Rosindell’s Bail in Rape Investigation
The Metropolitan Police’s Central Specialist Crime team are seeking to extend Tory MP Andrew Andrew Rosindell’s police bail while they continue their investigation into allegations of sexual offences against him. As reported exclusively by Black Isle Media, Mr Rosindell was arrested in suspicion of rape, sexual assault, indecent assault, abuse of a position of trust and misconduct in a public office on 17 May 2022.
Since his initial arrest in May 2022, Mr Rosindell has had his police bail extended 4 times by the Metropolitan Police while enquiries continue.
Despite being under investigation for serious sexual offences, Mr Rosindell was recently re-selected by his local party in Romford to stand as their Conservative candidate at the next General Election. Mr Rosindell has not attended the Commons since May 2022, as the Tory whip and
Commons authorities “asked” him not to.
The Metropolitan Police say
“Enquiries remain ongoing”
Disclaimer
Mr Rosindell remains innocent until proven otherwise. Black Isle Media has published Mr Rosindell’s identity as we believe his position as an MP raises a unique public interest argument due to his ability to meet various vulnerable groups without vetting, even whilst under investigation.
Something he HAS been doing.
As Labour MP Jess Phillips stated previously: constituents may feel entitled to know if it is their MP so they can make an informed decision on meeting him.
We believe this to be the case and that naming him also contributes to improved safeguarding.
Since naming Mr Rosindell in May 2022, no action has been taken against Black Isle Media by authorities or Mr Rosindell.
We have had contact with the victim throughout this process.
